George J. Wrieden, age 84 of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26th 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, NY he had resided in Sayreville for the past 23 years. Before his retirement he was employed as a Customer Engineer for IBM in Manhattan for 34 years. George was a communicant of St Bernadette RC Church in Parlin and was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. George liked reading and playing chess but mostly enjoyed gardening and giving away his plants to friends and family.

He is predeceased by his parents Herman and Susanna Wrieden and his brother Herman Wrieden. Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, the former Patricia Dwyer, his children and their spouses Jean and Thomas Rueckher and Robert and Deena Wrieden, his grandchildren Amanda, Jessica, Lauren, Ashlee, Erin, Colton and Noah, his great granddaughter Madison, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 8:45am Thursday from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 9:30am Mass at St Bernadette RC Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at St Mary's Cemetery in South Amboy.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in George’s name to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
