Gerald E. Springard age 76 of Monroe Township passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side Born in Perth Amboy he had resided in the Parlin section of Sayreville before moving to Hamilton for 2 years and Monroe for the past 5 years. Before his retirement in 2005 he was employed as an advertising consultant for Greater Media News for 25 years and prior to that for the Home News & Tribune for 15 years. Mr. Springard proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 through 1961, and was a member of the Sayreville American Legion Post 211.

He is predeceased by his parents James & Ruth Springard. Surviving are his wife Mary Gates Springard, his children and their spouses Jason & Lisa Springard of Parlin, and Pamela & Fred Mayer of Hamilton, his stepdaughter and her husband Ann & Kyle Seaman of Phoenixville, Pa., and his grandchildren Craig, Jenna, Jake Springard, and Patti Mayer and his step grandchildren Lauryn and Ben Seaman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with private cremation to follow.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Members of Sayreville American Legion Post 211 will hold services Thursday 7:15pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in Gerald’s name can be made to the Wounded Warriors Fund
